Monica Torres
Piano
With over 35 years of experience, Monica Torres began her life as a piano teacher in 1978 giving private lesson's in her mother's teaching studio in Brazil. She earned her degree in Piano Performance under world-renowned pianist: Miriam Ramos from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro and has since dedicated her life to teaching music.
Alongside her sister and mother, she co-founded Centro De Artes Lorenzo Fernandez – an arts conservatory in Brazil that taught music, dance, and visual arts. While running the conservatory, Torres started exploring alternative teaching methods such as the Suzuki & Willems methods that explore a nurturing approach to learning music.
After many successful years with the conservatory in Brazil, Torres moved with her husband to Miami in 1998 where soon began MT Music Studios.
Matheus Tavares
VIOLIN
Matheus Tavares is a Brazilian born violinist residing in Miami, FL. He studied violin with Miriam Stern for many years before being accepted into Florida International University’s music program. He holds a Bachelors of Music from FIU, completing his studies under the tutelage of Misha Vitenson.
Mr. Tavares has performed a vast array of symphonic literature under distinguished maestros such as, Sidney Harth, Grzegorz Nowak, James Judd, and Carlos Riazuelo. He has also played with various chamber and orchestral groups, such as the South Florida Symphony Orchestra, The Boca Symphonia, Ars Flores Symphony Orchestra, and the Miami String Project.
He has appeared on stage alongside various top billing artists, such as: Barry Manilou, Robert Lamm of Chicago, the Tran-Siberian Orchestra, Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige, Prince Royce, Il Volo, and many more.
As a studio artist, Mr. Tavares has recorded with many talented artists in the south Florida region. Recent engagements include the violin score to the motion picture “Uncle John”, which premiered at SXSW in 2015.
Master classes include world renowned artists such as Kristoff Barati, Ida Bieler, James Ehnes, Oleh Krysa, Robert Davidovici, Michael Klotz, Marcia Litley, and many more.
Veronica Tavares
SONGWRITING
Veronica Tavares is a pop singer & songwriter that spent her childhood in the classical world going to violin and voice lessons. As a graduate of Berklee College of Music, she spent her college years diving into the world of songwriting and music production, learning about and creating various different styles in pop music.
Upon graduating, Tavares started a songwriting and music production company that creates unique and personalized songs for special events.
She has written commercial music for both AT&T and McDonalds, and has been featured in vocal recordings for numerous commercials.
Ms. Tavares is often a creative mind behind MT Music Studios events, recitals, and Music Education presentations. She works closely with our other teachers to bring new arrangements and concepts to our studio.
